When Deborah's Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer all I could think about was what can I do to get information for her. She does not have access to the internet and does not live in a big town with big bookstores. My friend Vicky, who is a breast cancer survivor, told me about a book that really helped her get through the onslaught of information from the doctors. But not only that the book, Living Through Breast Cancer, is a reference for all the medical terms and treatment methods with definitions in plain English. Living Through Breast Cancer is written by Carolyn M. Kaelin, M.D., P.H.D, Director, Comprehensive Breast Health Center, Brigham and Women's Hospital, with Francesca Coltrera. This book is what a Harvard doctor and survivor wants you to know about getting the best care while preserving your self image.
After Vicky told me how helpful the book was for her I immediately went to the bookstore to buy it for Deborah's Mom, Ruby. We took it to her the next weekend. Nothing could be more pleasing as hearing how helpful the book has been for Ruby.
If you know someone going through this terrible disease, get this book for them.
