Happy 4th of July everyone!! We truly are blessed to live in this great country. As we celebrate our Independence Day, please remember those that have fought for our freedom and continue to fight for our freedom both here in the United States and in foreign lands.

To celebrate the 4th, I’m giving you a weekend off from training!! Enjoy it while you can because on July 11th we are back on the trail for 8 miles.

Our first training walk had to be the most HUMID of any June training walk EVER!!!  But it was excellent training because that is what you will probably experience during the actual 3Day.  Day 1 of the 2007 3Day Walk was 105 with the heat index.  And Day 2 did not get much better.  We are in Florida, so heat, humidity and bugs are a fact of life and they will be with you during training and the actual walk.  But that’s why we train – to get ready for the elements and determine what gear wor(...)

Wait - I'm telling my age when I say that. I did not get in an "official" training walk last week. However, I was in DC with my family (5 adults and 5 teens) and we walked an average of 9 miles per day (cousin wore a pedometer). DC's humidity can definitely compete with Florida. I had my backpack that I wear for the 3Day loaded with water, trail mix, blister care items, big and smal(...)

Did you happen to catch the special on Farrah Fawcett last week? Wow – that is courage. I loved that she kept her bangs and shaved the rest of her head. We all had the Farrah flip at one time – and boy, it was really hard for me to get my hair to flip like that, but I made it. And the pictures shall stay hidden. It reminds us that we have come so far in the battle against cancer, but we still have so far to go.
