Hi all –
My name is Debby, or Deborah or Debbyjean. Choose your poison. I have lived in Florida all my life, actually from 5 years old on. As long as I can remember I have worked at RJ. I think I’m on year 29, but I’m not sure. I’m married forever now, or at least for 39 years. We have one HEALTHY daughter who lives in England with her husband and my two grandsons.
Over the past several years, our fearless leader, Sheila, has approached me to donate money to what I always knew was a worthy cause. I did so gladly and felt pretty proud of myself for having "done my bit".
However, after seeing this monster disease affect so many friends and family that I love and care about, I knew I could not stay on the sidelines any longer. So, the over-the-hill, out-of-shape person that I am will be walking in the 3 day, this year and every year forward until we no longer need to walk. (For those of you who have seen my emails or know me, it was my evil twin that signed this old fart up. She thought it would be a hoot to see me suffer.),
I do this in honor of my very dear friends who are survivors and in memory of one very wonderful, very brave lady, my Aunt Helen. Although she did not have breast cancer, she was stricken by this horrendous animal called cancer and fought a very courageous fight. She left us on July 29, 2007. Therefore, I humbly take up my place on the march for her and for my dear friends, Carole, Debbie and Mary who are fortunate to be called SURVIVORS!!!!
