About Me:

Why I Walk and Joined This Team:
I have watched my best friend fight breast cancer not once, but twice. I have watched her pour glue down the cracks of the soles of her feet from the chemotheraphy treatments so she could walk. I have watched her drop 43 pounds in less than 2 months from the radiation treatments and I have watched her laugh and put on a brave face and try not to let this horrible disease get her down. I watched a colleague at work battle this disease not once, but twice. I watched her as she lay in bed with an oxygen mask over her mouth as I tried to comfort her and let her know how much she meant to us. I watched the expressions on my co-workers as they were told of her passing just a week ago– she fought a long battle and didn’t make it. I watched a young girl at work fight back the tears as she told me about losing her mom to this disease just a few short years ago.
How can I sit by and watch these women fight this disease and not feel compelled to do something? I walked for the first time last year in the 3-Day event and was so caught up in the emotion that there was no doubt I would walk again in 2008. Blisters on my feet cannot compare to the ordeal these women fight just to stay alive and be with their loved ones another day.
I hope if you are reading this that you will feel compelled to make a donation, whatever amount big or small, to help find a cure in our lifetime.
Pray we are successful. Pray that a cure is found in 2008.
God bless you.
