Toni Leisner - Walker

About Me:

I first got involved in the 3 Day when my wife walked in 2006. I ended up as crew for her team helping drive people from hotels to camp. I was so inspired that I opened my big mouth at a post-walk meeting and said we should have a men’s team. From that and the help of a lot of people the Sons, Others, and Brothers (SOBs) was born.

Why I Walk and Joined This Team:

Patti (esteemed spouse) had bile duct cancer ten years ago. The disease is considered fatal for 99% of victims within a year so first of all I am a grateful man. Still the awful feeling of helplessness seeing her emerge from 10 hours of surgery full of tubes has never left me. Patti’s mother and several other family members have contracted breast cancer and won. I have daughters and granddaughters. Often we men are the support system, or should be, for our women and yet that isn’t enough. We can do more by walking, raising needed funds for education and research, and making a statement that cancer is a family disease and we all need to help eradicate breast cancer.
