A promise to a Sister
The Komen Foundation was created as a promise by one sister to another to find a cure for breast cancer. That is also my mission.
This is my 5th year supporting the Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk. For 3 years I walked and last year I supported my nephew, Frederick and my niece, Katrinia, my teams (Thanks for the Mammories and Sons, Others and Brothers-the SOBs) and the thousands of other walkers as they walked 60 miles over 3 days to raise funds and awareness in the battle against breast cancer.
As part of my promise to my sister, I will do everything I can to assist in finding a cure for breast cancer so her daughter and the thousands of other daughters, mothers, sisters, friends, etc. do not have to fear breast cancer.
Because of the Komen 3Day, I have been blessed to meet so many people that are also dedicated to finding a cure for this terrible disease. They amaze me each and every day with their strength, their courage and their perseverance. On our team we laugh, we cry, we walk, we drink, we fundraise, but mainly we give each other hope and encouragement that what we are doing is making a difference and saving lives. So we train before sunrise in the heat of the summer, treat those blisters, hold garage sales and casino night and know that every step we take gets us closer to that finish line - a Cure for Breast Cancer!!!
So please help with this awesome cause by either donating to the walkers or coming out and supporting the walkers.
Your donations are tax deductible. Net proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust, funding important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.
Thank you for your support because there cannot be a CURE without U.
